CMP11 circuit open/short
Confirmed Fixes:
Oil change — 🎯 1
Pete Custom Car: 2017 Ford Escape with the 1.5 I checked the entire circuit. The brown wire runs directly to the PCM it is in the top 95 pin connector C175E 95pin and it is pin 46 the grey wire. It is ground controlled by the PCM. I removed the VVT and checked for blockage, I checked the resistance and had 8 ohms which is good spec is 5 – 14 ohms. I then checked the operation with jumpers to the battery and it operated just fine. I hooked up 2 test lights and tied them to the wiper arm and drove the vehicle watching scan data and verified that the PCM could control the cam by watching the desired and actual and observing the test lights. I found that the oil change was overdue by 4K. I changed the oil and all is ok. I could have diagnosed this just with a scan tool and 2 test lights if I had the experience that I have now. That will be the first thing I do next time.
