I need help with “slow to load” WordPress GoBlog theme website

Update 10-8-2020: I removed a couple of widgets my twitter feed and my Ambient Weather widget and now my score has improved to 68/44. I had these widgets on my original non-WordPress site and never noticed any speed issues. I can only assume the WordPress architecture is having a had time with it.

I’m not sure what I need to do to fix this slow to load issue. Google PageSpeed Insights says it’s java script causing the problem but I had this site with the same java scrips created with Microsoft Expression Web 4 and I never had any problem. Then I switched to WordPress and the Goblog theme and it’s “slow to load”. One thing I did do that could be messed up is I tested WP initially in a subdirectory https://pete01507.com/news and now have moved it to the root of the public directory. The other thing I didn’t have before was responsive CSS

Here is a blank test page: https://www.pete01507.com/?page_id=857

Here is the link to the PageSpeed Insights: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pete01507.com%2F&tab=desktop

Another thing I can’t figure out is when I change the Permalink structure the picture links in my sidebar won’t load the images. I never had a sidebar with my old Expression website either.

Please comment with any suggestions or helpful ideas. Thanks Pete
